November 30, 2010 West Fork Horsehead Creek

I am planning on a bigger hike within a few weeks into West Fork Horsehead Creek but I thought I would try and knock some of the distance off by investigating the upper part of the main northern branch of West Fork Horsehead Creek. Ive already found some nice waterfalls in the main southern branch (due southeast). I found lots of nice waterfalls including one 20-25ft waterfall as well as several scenic smaller falls. There were several times that the creek was in a canyon of rock only a few feet wide with rock walls extending high above. It reminded me in several spots of the hike up to Thunder Canyon Falls. I also came across two landslides. Both of them flowed right into the creek and made passage though those sections a little difficult.
