January 26-29 Oklahoma Winter (Ice) Storm

Below are pictures from on and around Cavanal Hill near Poteau, Oklahoma. Cavanal Hill is said to be the highest hill in the world. Its top is about 2400 feet above sea level and 1999 feet above ground level. The ice accumulations began just above the bottom and got significent near the top. There was 2-3 inches of freezing rain accumulation at the top. The day before I went up there the temperature got up into the mid to upper 30s so some melting had taken place already. I would estimate that the ice accumulation totals were about 2.75 before melting....but 3+ inches is certainly possible. The first two pics are of freezing fog in Fort Smith, AR. It actually was able to accumulate on the roads.
